amperage interrupt capability

Home / glossary / amperage interrupt capability

The amperage interrupt capability of a circuit breaker is the maximum amount of current that the breaker can safely interrupt. This is typically expressed in terms of a percentage of the breaker’s rated current capacity. For example, a breaker with a 100% amperage interrupt capability can safely interrupt all currents up to its rated capacity.
