cell junction

Home / glossary / cell junction

A cell junction is a type of cell-cell junction in which the two cells are connected by a gap of 2-4 nanometers (nm) in width. The gap is bridged by proteins, which are anchored in the membrane of each cell. These proteins form a channel through which small molecules can pass from one cell to the other.
