Conduction is the transfer of heat or electricity through a material by means of electrons or ions. When heat is transferred by conduction, it occurs because there is a temperature difference between two objects in contact with each other. When electricity is transferred by conduction, it occurs because there is an electric potential difference between two conducting materials.
