Net metering:Net metering is a billing arrangement between a customer and their electricity retailer. Under this arrangement, customers with eligible renewable energy systems are able to receive credits for the excess electricity that their system produces. These credits can then be used to offset the cost of any electricity that the customer draws from the grid.In order for a customer to be eligible for net metering, their renewable energy system must meet certain criteria. The system must have a capacity of no more than 10 kilowatts (kW), and it must be connected to the customer’s main electricity supply. The renewable energy system must also be used for the purpose of generating electricity, rather than for heating or cooling.
